SharedDog collects only what's needed to deliver a great pet-care experience:
- Account information — email address, name, profile settings
- Pet profiles — names, photos, breed, age, weight
- Activity logs — feeding times, walks, health records
- Schedules and reminders you create
- Sharing permissions you grant to family members and caregivers
How We Use Your Data
Your data powers the core SharedDog experience:
- Pet care tracking, scheduling, and shared activity timelines
- Enabling collaboration with authorized family members and caregivers
- Sending reminders and push notifications (when enabled)
- Improving app functionality and user experience
Data Sharing
We share your data only in these limited cases:
- With people you explicitly invite through our sharing feature
- When required by law or to protect our legal rights
- With service providers who help us operate the app — under strict confidentiality agreements
We never sell your personal data to third parties.
Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication (JWT + Cognito), and regular security audits. Your data lives on secure AWS cloud infrastructure with robust access controls.
Your Rights
You're always in control of your data:
- Access and export all your data — go to Settings → Data & Privacy
- Correct or update your information at any time
- Delete your account and all associated data permanently
- Control exactly who can access each pet profile through sharing settings
- Opt out of notifications and reminders at any time
Data Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where required by law to retain certain records.
Children's Privacy
SharedDog is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, please contact us immediately and we will remove it.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
