Welcome to SharedDog ("the App", "we", "our", "us"). By accessing or using SharedDog, you ("you", "the user") agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Purpose

SharedDog helps dog owners and trusted caretakers:

• Coordinate daily tasks — feeding, walking, training, medications, bathroom logs, and more
• Share routines, updates, and reminders across multiple devices and users
• Maintain shared histories and logs of pet care activities
• Support multiple dog profiles with customizable schedules and notes

The App is for informational and organizational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 16 years old to use SharedDog.
• You must be legally able to enter into binding contracts and comply with local animal welfare laws.
• The App is not intended for children under 13.

3. Accounts & Authentication

3.1 Account Creation

• Accounts are created via email/password or supported social logins (e.g., Google, Apple).
• Email verification is required. Secure password policies apply.
• Authentication uses industry-standard methods (JWT tokens, AWS Cognito).

3.2 Security

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.
• Do not share your credentials with unauthorized users.

3.3 Profile Management

You may create and manage multiple dog profiles including breed, age, vaccinations, and dietary notes. Owners may invite trusted family members, roommates, or partners to share access to a profile.

4. Acceptable Use

By using SharedDog, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, up-to-date information about your dogs and routines
• Use the App responsibly, ensuring pet welfare and compliance with applicable laws
• Communicate respectfully when using in-app features
• Avoid misuse — including spamming, reverse engineering, exploiting vulnerabilities, or uploading harmful content

5. Multi-User Access & Sharing

• Dog owners may invite caretakers via email to share access
• Four access levels are available: Read-Only, Basic, Full, and Owner
• Owners control permissions and may revoke access at any time
• You are responsible for vetting and monitoring those with whom you share access

6. Subscriptions & Pricing

SharedDog operates on a freemium model with beta pricing during our early-access period:

• Pup Essentials (Free, regular $2.99/mo): 1 dog, up to 3 caretakers, shared schedules and activity timeline.
• Household Plus ($4.99/mo beta, regular $9.99/mo): Up to 3 dogs and 5 caretakers, advanced notifications, shared templates, and data export.
• Caretaker Collective ($49.99/mo beta, regular $99.99/mo): Designed for professionals — unlimited dogs, team roles, reporting, and API access roadmap.

Paid plans include a card-free 14-day trial. Beta pricing applies for the first 6 months; plans renew at regular price thereafter.

Payments

• Managed via Stripe — your card details never touch SharedDog servers.
• If you exceed your tier's limits, additional features will be restricted until you upgrade.

7. Data & Privacy

Your privacy matters. Data may include account info, pet profiles, schedules, and logs. All data is stored securely using industry-standard practices including AWS DynamoDB with encryption at rest and in transit.

All personal data use is governed by our Privacy Policy, which you also agree to by using the App.

8. Intellectual Property

SharedDog's app, logo, design, and content (excluding user-submitted content) are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our materials without written permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

SharedDog is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the App. Users remain responsible for their pets' health, safety, and welfare.

10. Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes will be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and if necessary, through the appropriate legal channels.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, misuse App features, or compromise the safety, welfare, or privacy of others (including pets).

12. Updates to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be communicated in the App. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
